Snake Suspenderz is a quartet featuring vocals, ukulele, trombone, guitar, tuba and drums. We call our style Cartoon Jazz.
Snake Suspenderz plays a relentlessly quirky blend of novelty songs and hits of the 1920’s and 30’s, with a generous helping of original tunes written in those styles. By turns snarky, sentimental and exuberant, the Snakez bring wildly entertaining musical fun for the whole family and then some! But don’t just take our word for it, have a listen to our theme song, Say Hello To Mr. Snake, off of our CD, Serpentine.
Snake Suspenderz is:
•Acoustic music for all occasions!
•High energy fun!
•Part of a well-balanced diet!
(OK. That last one is a lie.)
Snake Suspenderz has been delighting audiences at private parties, farmer’s markets, clubs, crafts festivals and open mikes since spring 2004. Combining original and cover tunes with offbeat humor and years of performing experience, the Snakez are sure-fire winner for concerts and we also make a heck of a pit band for vaudeville and burlesque shows!
“I want to work with you guys again. If I have a pit, I want you in it!” — Avner the Eccentric
Snake Suspenderz sounds like: Frank Zappa meets the Hoosier Hot Shots, Robert Crumb and The Cheapsuit Serenaders, Bonzo Dog Doodah Band, Asylum Street Spankers, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Shorty Long, Leon Redbone.
“The Snake Suspenderz are doing for novelty songwriting what the Bad Livers did for Bluegrass Punk, only with a tromboner and ukist instead of a banjer and a tubist… They are about one accordion shy of a four ring circus.” — Cody Johns
