Hot Jass, Hokum and Novelty Music... with a bite!

The trio busking at the Ballard Sunday Market, Seattle, WA -- June 8, 2008

Giving some serious attention to our nascent audience!

You'll note that I brought T.R., my sopranino out for a spin today.

I think we're rockin' through our "theme" song, Say Hello To Mr. Snake. Thad sure seems to be serious about it!

You might also note the rarely seen Howlin' Hobbit version of a kazoo holder. I mainly do lead stuff on the kazoo in the trio or duet iterations of the Snakes.

The spot we're in is our second favorite place. We got there too late to get our favorite spot -- someone was already camped there!

In case you don't recognize it, the instrument that Thaddeus is playing is a guittaron, the Mexican mariachi bass. Thad calls it a "street bass" and it works well for that purpose.

Blowin' another hot *ahem* solo on the mighty kazoo.

In quiet places I'm trying to master some whistling solos. I've got one or two tunes where it's nearly there.

Jazz whistling is harder than one might initially guess!

You can see that Sketch's washboard doesn't have a heck of a lot of stuff on it. That's changed quite a bit since these pics were taken!

You can get a clearer look at what it looks like -- as of this writing, goodness knows what it'll morph into over time -- by checking out these pics.

Thanks to the fabulous Z Lady for the photos!
